The work for the lagoon was scheduled to start in the fall of 2024 but was pushed back by the contractors to the spring of 2025. Contract for the lagoon expansion has been awarded to Arnold Earthmoving Ltd.
Expansion will involve merging the two current cells into one and then developing a secondary storage cell.
Discussion with Water Security Agency (WSA) stated that, based on the current parameters for determining storage we only have the capacity for 250 people. WSA is the provincial government agency responsible for managing and protecting the province’s water resources, including ensuring safe drinking water, wastewater treatment and managing water supplies. They are the agency in charge of issuing our permits to operate a sewage works. Contractors have been to Willow Bunch this spring to view the area and are utilizing data from the piezometers installed to determine water table levels and when they will be able to commence construction.
